Chores

Abby is a big helper on laundry day. She loves to "pull" and "put" the laundry. (She is also very likely to turn off the washing machine mid-cycle, which is not as helpful.)

Happy Easter

Over here we celebrate on Orthodox Easter so this picture is only a few days late.

abby easter

She looks like an angel in this picture but what you can't see is that she is a dirty, bloody angel after a walk in the woods and one big fall on the pavement. She loved the egg hunt and wasn't at all disappointed that her eggs were filled with cheerios and raisins while the big kids got candy.

Submerged

Abby spent a few minutes in a pool last weekend. (We forgot her swim diaper and it takes about 20 seconds a for disposable diaper to fill up on pool water.) Anyway, she slipped and went under. Dan swooped in and picked her up. There was a minute of crying, but then she was right back at the pool, safely dipping her feet from the edge.

More Words

I forgot a bunch of words last week: she says "Yeah", "No!" (of course) and "Ama" (her babysitter's nickname). Also "cuck" which is a cross between "duck" and "quack". I think there are more, but I can't remember them.

With her new spoken words has also come a resurgence of interest in baby signs. For a month or two she only used the sign for "please" which to her probably means "I want it / I want you to do this for me". Within the last week or two she brought back signs for "all done" and "more" as well as trying out "banana".

This week she totally stunned us by saying "apple" while also making the baby sign for apple, which is a new sign for her. Apple is her first real two syllable word. She also made one effort at saying "Abigail" but it wasn't particularly close.

AND, how could I forget? If she says "eye" you have to watch out. She is likely to poke you in the eye to prove she knows what she is talking about!

Sleepy Noodles

Here is the requisite falling asleep eating video.

Pigtails

Her hair is long enough but she's too squirmy to get them anywhere near even.

DEEESS!

Abby's favorite word right now is "deeess!" She says it while pointing at something she wants. We're not sure if it is "please" or "this" or just Abigail-ese, but it is really cute nonetheless. It does feel like an evolution of "ssssss" which she used for the same purpose when she was around 9 months.

In addition to "Deess", she says "Mama", "Dada", "Dad-E", "Wow" and "Ca" when we are in the car but not at pictures of cars. She knows that cows say "ooo", sheep say "maa" and cats say "Ma" or "ow".

Oops

This is what happens when I don't have babysitting for my 11:30am-1pm language lesson.

She ate all her yogurt and most of her peas and carrots and watched two episodes of Little Einsteins before she fell asleep.

Games with Daddy

This started out as Daddy holding Abby while kicking the ball at the couch, but that got boring.
