Getting some work done

DSC08636

Abby got a toy laptop for Christmas from Grandma and Grandpa, so she and Uncle Sean got some stuff done on Christmas Day.

Here are some wonderful photos taken by Uncle Paul (who has a much nicer camera than Mom and Dad)

Messy Breakfast

Sometimes Abby refuses to accept a spoon, but that doesn't mean she is refusing the food she is being offered. This morning she ate yogurt and strawberries with her fingers.

Zoo

We went to the zoo with Nana and Papa. Abby was unimpressed by the peacock wandering around,

but the lion was exciting.

She was pretty tired by the time we got to the monkeys and apes.

Toddling

Abby can take a few steps now,

but she still gets around in various ways.

(That was a grape, by the way.)

Our Secret In-Joke

I don't have a picture for this post, but I think it is incredible cute. (Truthfully, I don't know where the camera is but I'm sure I'll find it soon.)

A few months ago I started calling out to Abby and giving her a big smile every time I used the garbage disposal, just in case the noise was going to scare her. Well, it worked. It worked so well that now, even if I forget to look at her and smile, she stops whatever she is doing, looks at me and laughs. It's our little in-joke: garbage disposals are hilarious!

Our Little Giraffe

Abby loves her giraffe stuffed animals, but she's never seen a real giraffe. By coincidence, Nana and Papa are taking her to see her first real Giraffe at the Franklin Park zoo today. So this seemed fitting:

Who Needs to Walk...

...when there are chairs and small tables everywhere you look?

Playing by Herself

If she is in the right mood, Abby is happy to play be herself. She is able to turn the pages of board books, fill and dump containers of toys, bang pots, empty drawers, bounce balls and push trucks and trains.

But sometimes she needs help.

Off to School

I didn't think about the fact that she was wearing her child scientist shirt when I took these pictures of Abby with her Dora the Explorer backpack. Abby you can be confident that there will be no pressure on you to go to Harvard. We can suggest a few good schools in Amherst though...

Books

Abby really does love books. She rarely sits still while one is read to her but she loves to turn the pages and chew on them. Luckily for all of us, Nana has been sending regular shipments of new books. (What did book-loving grandmothers do before Amazon?)
